Fernando Flores
Fernando Flores is a Chilean engineer, entrepreneur, and philosopher whose career spans politics, academia, and business. He is a pioneer in the field of workflow technology and is best known for his work on the philosophy of language and its application to management. Flores served as a cabinet minister in the government of Salvador Allende before becoming a political prisoner. After his release, he moved to the United States, where he developed a groundbreaking approach to work known as "ontological design." He is the author of Conversations for Action and co-author of Disclosing New Worlds, books that argue that business is fundamentally a network of human commitments and conversations.\n\nFlores’ work challenges the traditional view of communication as a mere exchange of information. Instead, he posits that language is the primary tool we use to create reality and coordinate action. He founded several companies, including Action Technologies, which developed early groupware software based on his theories. Flores eventually returned to Chile to serve as a Senator, continuing to advocate for innovation and education. His unique background allows him to blend high-level cybernetics with deep philosophical inquiry, offering leaders a robust framework for building trust and executing strategy in complex organizations.
