Kari Leibowitz
Kari Leibowitz, PhD, is a health psychologist and mindset researcher. She gained international attention for her research in Tromsø, Norway—a city north of the Arctic Circle—studying how residents thrive during the long "Polar Night." Leibowitz investigates how our beliefs about difficult circumstances influence our physical and mental well-being.\n\nShe is the author of How to Winter: Harnessing Your Mindset to Thrive in Cold, Dark, or Difficult Times. Leibowitz applies the "winter mindset" of the Norwegians to the metaphorical winters of life (grief, depression, struggle). She argues that by accepting and finding opportunity in the darkness, rather than fighting it, we can build resilience. Her work combines social psychology with practical philosophy.
